Outcome Description
3.1 Students describe concepts of culture and use that understanding in their comparison of the target culture with the second culture.
3.2 Students will analyze and make connections among the ways of thinking and perspectives, behavioral practices and cultural products of a second culture.
Courses Taken:
SPAN 309: History & Politics of Latin America
Reflective Narrative:
During History & Politics of Latin America we looked at the histories each Latin American country individually into how it was colonized up until present day. Additionally we studied the social, political, and economical structure of each country. Due to this I was able to understand the economy of Latin America and see why it has been so hard for the countries to progress. This course was extremely educational and helped to add a better balance to my cultural knowledge by taking an in depth look into countries outside of my field.
The course was primarily taught through lectures and videos as well assigned writings and readings. For our final we were assigned to pick a single country from Latin-America and write a consolidated essay on the polltical evolution of that country from multiple angles. For my essay I chose Chile and it can be found here
